Welcome to Steve Weintraub's New Blog!

As you may know I'd spent the last nearly 26 years of my life working for Penton Media and the last 15 specifically in their Public & Infrastructure Group.

Well that all ended on October 1st as it can for anyone of us who are not self-employed. Not a bad thing as it allowed me to pursue the many ideas and avenues I'd long thought of but was unable to make time for. Luckily for me a salesman can always sell and thus there can be and have been many opportunities I've been approached with and recommended by others to go after. Some were surprising and far afield of anything I'd ever done. All though were interesting and ponderable on their merits and were greatly appreciated. So it unleashed a lot of good thought and consideration on what I should do with my future. More on that later...

Weeks 1 and some of week 2 of unemployed life were spent de-coupling myself from my past Penton life. It's surprising how this takes longer than one would think to transition from one career life to another due to matters of administration, financial, heatlh care and ridding the home office of magazines, media kits, office equipment, etc. I did get derailed the second week I have to admit by the current Texas Rangers' playoff run and the spectrum of October Baseball Madness. I was offered and happily accepted these terrific tickets to a Dallas Mavericks'/Chicago Bulls game on Thursday evening. On Tuesday of the first day of the playoffs when the Rangers played Tampa Bay I'd watched the two games following that. Don't EVER recall having watched three baseball games in one day! Couldn't pull myself away from the set and I certainly had the time to devote to this at that time. All the while I'd been pondering the shape and content of my future work life and what I'd like it to look like and have come to a decision that finally made sense.

Trying to be as honest as possible with myself through this process I'd come up with my three best assets. 1) I'm very curious about companies and what they do. 2) I love to sell people concepts and things. 3) I am pretty darned knowledgeable about selling and marketing to government and industrial end-users.

With all that in mind which made me feel powerful and blessed I drove down to the Dallas County Records Building and registered my new business Steve Weintraub & Associates on October 19th. It was a powerful moment and day. Yesterday my new business cards arrived. I designated myself the title of "principal" of the company rather than president, founder or ceo simply because I've always liked that title designation.

My plan for my new company is to be an independent manufacturers representative in the Dallas/Fort Worth and North Texas areas selling to governmental, institutional and industrial end-users. The second portion of my new business will be a consultative one which will be to assist companies with their challenges of getting into the government market or aiding them with sales/marketing solutions on how to further and grow their government sales. I'm also adept in marketing to the commercial/industrial sectors as well btw.

If I can be of help to you with my new business venture in any way or you can help me with mine, please let me know. My pledge to you is to be as conscientious, hard working and service-oriented as I can be on your behalf.

Governmentally Yours,
Steve Weintraub
